Do you voice call?

Yes, that subject line says "voice call". Much to my friends' amusement, that's what I seem to have started saying instead of "call" or "phone call" as of late. I was inspired to discuss this because of a post I saw on the Girls Facebook page with some dialogue from the show:
phone calls, phones, texting.He never, ever texts you back.

Maybe I should call him? I mean, didn't you say texting is, like, the lowest form of communication on the pillar of chat?

The totem of chat. And no, the lowest: that would be Facebook, followed by Gchat, then texting, then email, then phone. Face to face is, of course, ideal, but, it's not of this time.
Man, I love that show. I love where she says face to face is not of this time, haha! That is EXACTLY how I feel when it comes to phone calls. I don't call up friends ever (and when I do they answer their phone in a hurry and ask what's wrong!). I will send them a text (LOVE texting) and stare and wait. If it's a time sensitive matter I will sometimes even think that calling would probably be more effective and garner an immediate response, but I just can't bring myself to do it! I still have just a couple of friends who do pick up their phones and call... IF I decide to answer, it pains me, and it is not without hesitation. Another problem is my ring tone - it's the James Bond theme song. To be very honest with my phone actually ringing so infrequently I'd rather listen to my ring play through than actually answer it, haha! It's just too cool. 
So now I am curious, do you voice call? Do you mind it or do you prefer another form of communication on the totem of chat?

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. I am so glad this is the first book I'm sharing since rediscovering my inner Book Worm. Why? Because I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I'm not going to lie, it took me a LONG time to get through, but that should not be reflective of how I felt about it.

We all know who Steve Jobs is. I mean, he changed our world for goodness sake! He actually changed it. Love him or hate him, I learned so much about him in the book I didn't know and I'm sure never would have known otherwise. You can love him because he was so creative, artistic, innovative, and determined. You can hate him because he was emotionally immature, harsh, insensitive, and controlling. It was when he became ill that Steve Jobs actually asked Walter Isaacson to write this book about him and gave Walter full access to him and the people in his life (past and present). Steve figured that once he passed away someone would write a book about him, so why not endorse it, and make it one of truth, where people can know the real him. 

I am my father's daughter and am constantly interested in and intrigued by technology and innovation. This book also told that story. I thought learning about how it all (Apple and the Steve Jobs legend) began was interesting, but even more so how the technologies of late have come to be. The Mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, iTunes... all of it! Each and every single one of those products changed the norm, shook up industries, and had people NEEDING something they previously didn't even know they wanted. 

Some people say, "Give the customers what they want." But that's not my approach. Our job is to figure out what they're going to want before they do. I think Henry Ford once said "If I'd asked customers what they wanted, they would have told me 'A faster horse!'" People don't know what they want until you show it to them. That's why I never rely on market research. Our task is to read things that are not yet on the page. - Steve Jobs

If you like biographies, this is a great one. If you love technology you'll love this one! I am definitely an Apple girl and I've always appreciated how they upped the ante for anyone in their lines of business, and it was taken there by Steve Jobs. The fact that this book is so well written and honest just makes you get lost in the story. Steve Jobs also had such a unique perspective of the world, that some of the quotes in the book are quite profound. I'm very much in awe of him.

One more quote from the book I'd like to share is something Steve said after he got diagnosed with cancer, and although it is a touch morbid, it is also very real: 

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choice in life. Because almost everything - all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

A+O iCouture

Shortly after my post showing off my iCouture, I came across this little beauty - this is an Alice + Olivia iPhone case! I don't know if it's for sale, or if will be for sale (I've looked a bit online and haven't found it), but designer Stacey Bendet posted it on Instagram. It's not very practical - imagine it in your purse - but man is it cute! It's also pretty hilarious. I love LOVE love it!

Designer iCouture...

My iPhone has better outfits then I do. I'm only kidding... a little bit. But really, who gets their iPhone several designer options to choose from? Me. I do. 

I've always been a fan of having some sort of cover or skin on my phones, but two things changed when I got an iPhone:
  1. I fell in love with it more than any other phone I'd experienced
  2. I discovered that fashion designers must feel the same way because there is a slew of amazing high-end designer options available for it
I think the second I got my iPhone (or at least within about 24 hours) I was online looking for the prefect cover to accessorize my phone with. I found it fairly quickly. The deep emerald Marc By Marc Jacobs Metallic Stardust Logo cover. I got my phone last fall and it was perfect. As spring was approaching, I found myself wanting a lighter option. I found the pefect one in my Diane Von Furstenberg New Lips Case. This past summer while shopping in Montreal I stumbled upon my Victoria's Secret Neon Pink Rubber Case. The least expensive of all my cases, it was the one that got the most comments and compliments! Next, this Christmas in my stocking I got a Boo ("The World's Cutest Dog") Case. I am a big fan of Boo and this case is just the cutest case imaginable!

My latest Kate Spade case
Just last week for my birthday, I was lucky enough to get a case I had been coveting for a long while. That cover is by Kate Spade New York cover the Audrey Hepburn eye detail. Not only is this cover perfect for me (white edging to match my phone, pink sides, and HELLO, Audrey!) but it also has a feature none of my other covers has: a flash diffuser. That's right! Basically it helps prevent the flash of your phone from picking up the colour of your case when you take pictures! It can really be a hassle to take the case off every time you want to take a picture, so this case might just be the case for me for the foreseeable future since I love taking iPhone pics! Love love love it! 

So although I have a latest and favourite case for my phone, the fact still stands that I have some awesome iCouture to choose from! What do you do with your phone? One case, a few?

iPhone Madness

Your phone, my phone, we (almost) all have an iPhone! Okay, this might not be exactly true but man oh man, there are A LOT of iPhones out there.

This post is somewhat in honour of the iPhone 5 announcements and hoopla this week. It's also a little bit because in this past year that I've had my iPhone I've been watching the majority of my friends and family, slowly but surely, switch over to an iPhone. It's incredible! This made me curious: with all the smart phones offered today, how many iPhones are there? Or, with all the different versions out there, how many iPhones have been sold, ever. I found my answer in an article from February of this year, and the answer from that not-so-recent article is 180 million. Whoa, right?! Let's also point out that we are talking 180 million in 5 years... double WHOA!

Just recently, I saw another article that was talking about the iPhone 5 launch date approaching, and they were breaking down just how valuable the iPhone was too Apple's success. Did you know that the iPhone division of Apple is worth more than all of Microsoft? The iPhone generated more sales than ALL of Microsoft over the last year. I don't even know what to say but wow.

With the launch of the iPhone 5, Apple has lowered the price on its previous 4 and 4S versions, as well as removing the 3S from it's lineup entirely. If you want an iPhone, the time is now.
